MKK took part in the 26th General Meeting of the Asia Pacific Central Securities Depositories Group (ACG), a key annual event for member institutions. Representing MKK at the meeting, held in Almaty from September 9 to 12 and hosted by the Kazakhstan Central Securities Depository (KCSD), were CEO and Board Member Dr. Ekrem ARIKAN and a delegation from MKK.
As part of the program, the MKK delegation, led by Dr. ARIKAN, paid a visit to the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Almaty, Mr. Evren MÜDERRİSOĞLU and Commercial Counselor Mr. Ekrem Alper BOZKURT. The discussions focused on exploring avenues for cooperation and potential opportunities between institutions from both countries.
During the meeting, the MKK delegation also had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Samsul HIDAYAT, Chairman of the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI), and other senior executives. The talks revolved around the successful implementation of eASY.KSEI, the Indonesian adaptation of MKK’s Electronic General Meeting System (e-GEM), launched in 2020. Both parties discussed further enhancements to the system and explored new areas for collaboration in the Indonesian capital markets.
Another key meeting was held with Mr. Chandrakanth JAYASINGHE, Chief Market Operations Officer (CMOO) at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE). Discussions centered on the potential integration of MKK’s e-GEM service into the Sri Lankan markets, with the CSE aiming to assess market needs by the first quarter of 2025.
In his address to the ACG General Meeting, Dr. ARIKAN highlighted MKK’s diverse activities, particularly its cutting-edge financial technology products and services. He emphasized MKK’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and provided details about the AECSD & AMEDA Istanbul Summit 2024, set to take place from October 2-4, 2024, in İstanbul. Dr. ARIKAN also expressed his excitement about MKK hosting the ACG27 meeting in İstanbul in 2026, underscoring the city’s strategic role as a bridge between markets and continents. Following his speech, a promotional video for ACG27 was shown to the audience.
Additionally, Dr. ARIKAN and the MKK delegation met with Mr. Soonho LEE, Chairman & CEO of the Korea Central Securities Depository (KSD), and the KSD delegation. The Korean representatives expressed their interest in MKK’s initiatives, especially the e-GEM project and its successful implementation in Indonesia. They expressed their interest in visiting İstanbul for further discussions and extended an invitation to MKK to attend KSD’s 50th-anniversary celebration in Seoul on December 5, 2024.
At the close of the ACG General Meeting, the chairmanship of the group was officially handed over from China Securities Depository and Clearing to Central Depository Company of Pakistan, with the vice-chairmanship assigned to the Central Securities Depository of Iran.
